From last to first for a huge win by FORTENSKY at Doomben

In a performance which needed to be seen to be believed at Doomben on Saturday 4 year old gelding FORTENSKY jumped in the air as the barriers opened and found himself at the rear of the field in the 1,350 metres Class 6 on the programme. Jockey Robbie Fradd allowed things to unfold at that stage of the race until the point of the home turn when he ensured the gelding hugged the rail in an attempt to try to improve into the race. For those race watchers (including many out of town owners) the likelihood of FORTENSKY being involved in the finish of the race was at that point nil. No one could have imagined that the gelding would not only display his great determination all the way down the home straight, but at the 100 metres mark it looked quite possible that FORTENSKY could in fact run into the first 3 across the line. Stunned race watchers saw the gelding charge to the line under the urging of Robbie Fradd and in an extraordinary effort, the gelding won the race by a nose. It was a remarkable last to first performance and again FORTENSKY displayed his consistency having now won 3 of his 4 race starts (plus a 2nd) since returning this preparation. A big win by a gelding improving all the time.
Congratulations to the winning FORTENSKY owners Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, John Roe, Don Dong, Michael Harris, Renato Cavuoto, Justin Graham, David Wilson, John Leggett, Vincent Ip, Bruno Calabro, Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood).
