VELADERO resumes with an excellent win at Warwick Farm

It's been a busy week for the thoroughbred industry in NSW with the ATC autumn racing carnival in full swing and the Inglis Easter yearling sale underway at the same time. Racing at Warwick Farm was conducted this week on Wednesday midway through the sale. Courtesy of a brilliant ride by Hugh Bowman and masterful placement by Chris and his team, our 4 year old gelding VELADERO resumed with a terrific win over 1,400 metres.
VELADERO was marginally slowly away from barrier one, but he was quickly into stride and settled well in the middle stages of the race. Before approaching the hometurn, Hugh began to improve on the gelding and just before the point of the turn, VELADERO seemingly quite miraculously appeared on the outside of the leading group and thereafter he charged to the line to win in eye catching fashion. He seems to have returned in great order and his recent barrier trial signalled that the son of Medaglia D'Oro (USA) looks set for a very good preparation. VELADERO was a talented 3 year old who "lost his way" a little at the end of last season, but Hugh Bowman was certainly able to get the best out of him yesterday. It was great to have the gelding back in the winner's circle.
Congratulations to winning VELADERO owners Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd (Manager: Neil Werrett), Wendy Holmes, Ray Aurisch, Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Michael Townsend, Anne Howlett.
