|A fortnight ago CORMAC recorded a strong win at Warwick Farm over 2,200 metres in such a manner that indicated the four year old gelding might very well develop into a more than "handy" stayer. He confirmed that thought yesterday when again pairing up with Kerrin McEvoy to win at the Kensington meeting at Randwick; this time over 2,400 metres. |
CORMAC jumped away neatly and settled one off the fence just behind the leading trio as they passed the grandstand first time round. Kerrin elected to move closer to the lead travelling down the back straight as the pace slackened and the pair improved to sit just behind the leader. At the point of the home turn the field bunched considerably, but the son of All Too Hard showed real determination with CORMAC exhibiting his staying strength, holding off challengers and drawing clear at the 100 metres mark to win comfortably by over a length.
Congratulations to the winning CORMAC owners Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, BCR (Manager: Chris Chrystiuk), Michelle Hastings, David Wilson, John Holmes, P & S Glenney & S McKee Racing (Manager: Patti Glenney), Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Dianne Handley, Peter Aquino, Michelle Hutchins, Michael Ryan, Hugh Cameron, Peter Roberts, Geoff Paterson, Sasha Pahwa, Lynette Pahwa, Paul Lanham, Rachelle Lanham.
