Hela is a half-sister to G3 Hobart Cup winner Toorak Affair (Toorak Toff).

European Champion 2YO Colt and World Champion 3YO, St Mark’s Basilica dominated against the best of his generation, winning the G1 Dewhurst Stakes as a juvenile before proving himself at three with victories in the G1 French 2,000 Guineas, G1 French Derby, G1 Irish Champion Stakes and the G1 Eclipse Stakes. A son of Siyouni, one of Europe’s premier sires, St Mark’s Basilica is a half-brother to Irish Champion 3YO, Miler Magna Grecia, winner of the G1 Two Thousand Guineas. His dam, Cabaret, was a G3-winning two-year-old, ensuring precocity runs deep in his pedigree. His first yearlings have been highly sought-after, with top buyers investing up to 1.7million GNS in his progeny at major sales across Europe.
Hela was a dominant race mare, winning her first seven starts over 1100m to 2100m, including the Listed Strutt Stakes and was second favourite for the G1 Australasian Oaks. Hela is also a half-sister to Toorak Affair, winner of 14 races and a G3 Hobart Cup Champion, with stakes wins from 1150m to 2400m. She hails from a family steeped in black type. The second dam, Smooth Return, is by the legendary Champion sire Redoute’s Choice. This is Hela’s first foal.
