The application of blinkers, a soft track and a good Larry Cassidy ride were collectively the winning combination for SPOKESMAN at Ipswich yesterday.

The 4 year old son of Press Statement jumped well from the barriers in the 1,350 metres event and Larry settled him just beyond midfield as the leaders bowled along in front setting a genuine tempo. Approaching the home turn, he allowed SPOKESMAN to improve on the outside of the field and once the gelding balanced up in the home straight, he found the line strongly to win comfortably by a length.
