ROUSSEAU was a determined winner at Moonee Valley on Friday night over 2,040 metres. A textbook ride from John Allen gave the 4 year old gelding his third career victory.

ROUSSEAU began well and travelled into the bridle in the initial stages and took up the running first time passing the post. They went at a strong tempo and John was able to drop ROUSSEAU back which allowed him to race comfortably in 3rd position. Inside the 700 metre mark John started edging closer on the gelding and brought him wide into clear running. On the home turn he took the lead up again and kicked clear upon straightening and held off a fast-finishing challenger.
