Saturday’s metropolitan meeting at Doomben was moved to Toowoomba as a result of the devastating rainfall hitting the east coast at present and stable favourite DEALMAKER made a welcome return to the winner’s circle at the relocated meeting.
The 6 year old son of Dundeel (NZ) was very well placed in the Class 3 Plate over 1,625 metres on a soft 5 track. Upon jumping, jockey James Orman settled the gelding in 4th position where the pair enjoyed a lovely run behind the speed. Once balanced in the straight, DEALMAKER built through his gears and took the lead in the final 100 metres to pull away and win comfortably. James commented post race that they “had the run of the race and when asked DEALMAKER grabbed the bit and chased down the leader with determination”. It was the gelding’s 4th win to add to multiple placings over his career and his earnings are now in excess of half a million dollars with more likely to come this preparation.Congratulations to the winning DEALMAKER owners David Meldrum, Robert Lapointe, Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Barry Johnston, Peter Aquino, Wendy Lapointe, Terri Johnston.
