With the primary focus initially on the Gold Coast for Magic Millions race day, it was exciting to have KALINO strike early at Rosehill on Saturday. With apprentice Dylan Gibbons in the saddle, KALINO settled near the tail of the field in the 1,200 metres benchmark 78 but just prior to the home corner, Dylan made a move to circle the small field and head to the middle of the track with the gelding quickly taking the lead in good style well before the finish post.
The 4 year old son of Pierro has returned in dazzling fashion this preparation having won both his starts with relative ease and now he not only presents as a good Saturday metropolitan class horse, but maybe a Stakes level performer as well; he is certainly racing at the right time of the year to test that theory. KALINO is relishing the sprint distances and having his races spaced. Dylan commented “you’ll be having more fun with him for a while yet”. That sounds like an attractive idea for all his owners.
Congratulations to the winning KALINO owners William Lovatt, Christine Lovatt, Emil Paya, Dennis McCann, Rebecca Grasso, Lion Racing Limited (Manager: Manoj Tahal), Ben Trim, Dean Mangold, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Mark Rapaport, Brad Russell.
