YASMEEN has always received glowing reports from the stable team and her track riders and therefore it was somewhat surprising to all connections that she was going into her fifth start still a maiden. However at Eagle Farm yesterday, she showed her true colours for a convincing win by a big margin in class record time over 1,200 metres.
The 3 year old daughter of Astern began quickly and let the speed go ahead of her to settle in fifth spot on the fence where she enjoyed a good tempo in transit. From the 600 metres, jockey James Orman began to move up in position along the rail to be sitting behind the leaders upon straightening. YASMEEN let down strongly and put the race away in a few strides to score effortlessly by just over 3 lengths.
YASMEEN will now go for a deserving spell on a winning note and we look forward to her return as a later 3 year old. The manner in which she won yesterday suggests the filly has a bright future.
YASMEEN was a 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale purchase from the draft of Edinglassie Stud. She is named after former supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri as her dam is Runway Runaway.
