CONCELLO marked herself as a filly with a bright future compliments of a smart win at Hawkesbury yesterday. The 3 year old daughter of Trapeze Artist made her racecourse debut at Canterbury Park just on a fortnight ago over 1,250 metres and it was clear that she would appreciate the step up to a mile.
CONCELLO began well to settle fifth one off the fence with cover, travelling comfortably behind an upfront even tempo. Jockey Zac Lloyd had the filly in a good rhythm throughout the middle stages commenting post race that she was “so relaxed in the run and went to sleep really.” The pair started to build momentum before the turn for home and once CONCELLO balanced up in the straight, the gap opened for her and she cruised to the line in eye catching fashion to win by 3.3 lengths. Following the win, Zac reported that she gave a lovely kick, putting them away easily and felt strong through the line suggesting the filly will get further in time.
CONCELLO was a 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling purchase from the draft of Ashleigh Thoroughbreds. The filly is aptly named after Antoinette Concello who is known as the “greatest woman flyer of all time” (female trapeze).
