HARTMAN was a narrow second when pipped on the post at his last outing so it was especially exciting to see him in the Winner’s Circle yesterday when winning the $100,000 Super Maiden mile race at Gosford.
The 3 year old son of recently retired former Champion Sire Exceed And Excel jumped effectively from barrier two and was able to to secure the leading position with Rachel King aboard where he settled into a moderate tempo. Approaching the turn, HARTMAN began to step up his gears and he accelerated well once balanced in the straight to put the race away beyond any doubt. Rachel commented post race that the gelding “raced tractably today and thoroughly deserved that win”.
HARTMAN was bred was by the famed Gooree Stud and was sold through the Newgate Farm draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale. The gelding is named after a German-American Philosopher who did pioneering work in the field of psychology on assessing an individual’s character…a fitting name for an Exceed And Excel out of Noble Creed.
