It has been a while “between drinks” for 4 year old Choisir mare VOILA but she had conditions to suit her at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. The mare has recorded 3 of her wins on soft and heavy tracks.
VOILA jumped away nicely but was restrained by apprentice Billy Owen to settle a little further back than mid-field with cover. She travelled strongly down the side of the track and coming to the 600 metres mark she was angling for more room, looking to improve but was blocked in behind the leading division. Around the turn for home, Billy had to be patient to wait for the gap to come and when it did, although a bit tight, VOILA charged through and found the line well to record a strong win.
Billy was pleased with mare’s effort overall and said “she was always travelling like the winner and just needed the gap to come” and when it did, VOILA was excellent over the concluding stages recording a 2 and a half lengths win.
Congratulations to the winning VOILA owners Chris Olliver, Norman Marks, Lucy Horseman, Margaret Roberts, J And T Racing (Manager: Jason Rose), Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Jan Van Buynder, Robert Dare, David Wilson, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Mervyn Wood, Dianne Handley.
