BORN A KING (GB) was in the winner’s circle in September last year when he won the Listed RM Ansett Classic at Mornington and it was very pleasing to see him back there again on Saturday, this time at Flemington.
The 7 year old son of the great Frankel (GB) began well from barrier 8 in the 10 horse field and jockey John Allen rode him quietly, placing the gelding at the rear of the pack where he switched off well throughout the running of 2,540 metres event. As the pressure started to build at the 600 metres mark, John allowed BORN A KING (GB) to cruise through his gears and round the field into the straight where he loomed up with strong acceleration. It was a satisfying watch for onlookers as he won by a comfortable 0.75 length. Saturday’s victory was the sixth career win for the gelding who clearly still has a zest for racing.
BORN A KING (GB) was a 2020 Tattersalls Horses In Training sale purchase by the team at Chris Waller Racing and congratulations to the winning owners including our Star clients.
