AELIANA (NZ) debuted at Hawkesbury over 1,000 metres finishing 4th with an eye-catching effort and she improved on that form yesterday when winning over 1,150 metres at Royal Randwick on the Kensington track. The 3 year old daughter of Castelvecchio jumped cleanly and jockey Jason Collett settled her midfield on the soft 7 track conditions. Coming to the bend, she tracked into the race nicely and Jason guided her towards the outside rail seeking better ground and AELIANA (NZ) accelerated through her gears impressively in the straight to pick up the leaders and win by a comfortable 1.2 lengths.

AELIANA (NZ) was a 2023 New Zealand yearling purchase from Karaka Book 1. Star secured the filly for NZ$180,000, alongside Mulcaster Bloodstock. Her pedigree of course caught our eyes given the close relation to one of our Star pinup mares. AELIANA (NZ) is out of Temolie, who is a half sister to our Group 1 winner and $3 million earner INVINCIBELLA. The filly’s name is a girl’s name of Greek origin meaning sunshine and sunlight.

Congratulations to the winning AELIANA (NZ) owners Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Anne Howlett, Katrina Pailthorpe, Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Ray Aurisch, Dianne Handley, Warwick Smith, Brent Hudson, Estate of the late Judith Hudson, Forbson Group (Manager: Ben Forbes).
