With only 3 race starts prior to Saturday, AELIANA (NZ) was taking a big step up in class when she contested the 1,400 metres Group 3 Reginald Allen Quality for 3 year old fillies at “headquarters” last Saturday which was Everest day.

With James McDonald in the saddle, the filly settled midfield and remained in that position until well into the home straight when she began to improve from about the 200 metres mark. Taking the lead at around the 50 metres mark, AELIANA (NZ) surged to the line for a determined win to secure valuable Black Type so early in her career in front of a sold out Royal Randwick crowd.

By Arrowfield’s emerging young stallion Castelvecchio, AELIANA (NZ) looks to have bright prospects for a very good career as she has significant physical improvement still to come. Her dam Temolie is a half sister by Star Witness to our classy Group 1 winner Invincibella and therefore the filly was a “must buy” when she was highlighted by renowned yearling selector Guy Mulcaster and her trainer Chris Waller at the 2023 NZB Karaka Book 1 yearling sale. With her pedigree, we definitely didn’t need to be asked twice.

AELIANA (NZ) may now continue her current preparation in Melbourne with several feature races on the horizon for the filly.

Congratulations to the winning AELIANA (NZ) owners Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Anne Howlett, Katrina Pailthorpe, Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Ray Aurisch, Dianne Handley, Warwick Smith, Brent Hudson, Estate of the late Judith Hudson, Forbson Group (Manager: Ben Forbes).
