On a day when the nation is watching our great sport, it is wonderful to have a winner on Melbourne Cup day. AUTORA has been “knocking on the door” for her elusive maiden win and yesterday was the day at Eagle Farm with Samantha Collett aboard. The 4 year old mare jumped a touch slowly but given her inside draw, she was able to settle midfield where she travelled beautifully throughout with a strong upfront tempo for the 1,600 metres event. AUTORA started to improve approaching the home turn and once Samantha angled her into the clear at the 300 metres mark, the pair began to run down the leader in determined fashion. AUTORA showed great tenacity to win in a class record time of 1:34.55.
AUTORA was a 2022 Magic Millions Gold coast yearling purchase from the draft of Newgate Farm. Her name was inspired by her sire Written By as AUTORA means author in Spanish. Her pedigree page has had a significant update compliments of her 3 year old half sister Castanya who was the Stakes winning 2 year old of the Lonhro Plate.
Congratulations to the winning AUTORA owners Nick Vass Bloodstock (Manager: Nick Vass), Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Martin Ive, Rachel Ive, CGO Racing, Bangaloe Stud (Manager: Julia Ritchie), Estate of the late Judith Hudson, Brent Hudson, D & K O’Brien Racing (Manager: David O’Brien), Leon Mugavin, Whitby Bloodstock Pty Ltd (Manager: Max Whitby).
