TASSRON has been knocking on the door in his career to date with 3 placings from his first 4 starts and he broke through on Sunday to win at Ballarat when racing over 1,500 metres with Fred Kersley in the saddle. The 3 year old son of Tassort jumped cleanly from the barriers and travelled strongly into a prominent position, settling in 4th for the early stages of the race. Fred asked the gelding to improve approaching the turn for home and TASSRON gamely reeled in the leaders in the straight to win in good style.
When discussing the gelding’s effort post race, Fred commented that he “was pretty confident of picking them up from the 500 metres mark and once he [TASSRON] balanced up, he worked well through the line”. He also noted that TASSRON will likely get further and no doubt the gelding will take great confidence from the win.
TASSRON was a 2023 Inglis Classic yearling purchase, alongside Randwick Bloodstock Agency, from the draft of Newgate Farm. He is Inglis Pink Bonus eligible and has a wonderful all ladies ownership group. His name is not only a mix of his sire and dam but also a boy’s name meaning “knowledgeful, inventive, elegant” so it is fitting for the handsome gelding and contains the often sought after seven letters.
