Saturday was a big day for our purple and white stars; AELIANA (NZ) lined up in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington, while KARINSKA ran 3rd in the Group 1 Flight Stakes at Royal Randwick but it was CAVARETTA who entered the winner’s circle when winning at 1,710 metres on the Gold Coast.

The daughter of Trapeze Artist jumped away fairly and settled at the rear of the field where she travelled tractably behind a steady upfront tempo throughout the early and mid-stages for an economical run. When the speed increased from the 600 metres mark, jockey Brandon Lerena waited patiently for the field to peel off the fence and once they did, CAVARETTA let down strongly for an uninterrupted rails run to go from last to first and win in good style.

CAVARETTA was a 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale purchase from the draft of Widden Stud. Being by Trapeze Artist, her name was inspired by the world famous trapeze group “The Flying Cavarettas”.
