DIOSA entered the winner’s circle on Friday when winning over 1,550 metres at Murwillumbah. The mare was lucky to stay on her feet last start when first up this preparation following bad interference late in the running so it was great to see everything go to plan with Andrew Mallyon aboard second up.
The daughter of Yes Yes Yes jumped well and ended up in a good position 4th on the fence where she settled beautifully for Andrew through the early and mid-stages. From the turn, he allowed DIOSA to creep into the race and once in the straight, she let down well to hold off her fast finishing Star stablemate ZEPHIRINE.
DIOSA was a 2023 Inglis Premier yearling sale purchase from the draft of Yarraman Stud. She is out of Galileo (IRE) mare Goddess Of Love (GB) and DIOSA is the Spanish word for goddess.
Congratulations to the winning DIOSA owners Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Rebecca Grasso, Ray Aurisch, CGO Racing, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Ben Trim, Peter Aukstinaitis, McLeish Family Racing (Manager: David McLeish), Dianne Handley, Nick Vass Bloodstock (Manager: Nick Vass).
