CHATTERLEY’s form boasted 5 placings (including 2 at Stakes level) from her 7 starts to date heading into yesterday’s 1,250 metres event at Newcastle and it was her day to capture the elusive win. The 3 year old daughter of Snitzel began well from barrier 8 and held her position to settle in third, just behind the leading pair. The leader commenced the run for home from before the bend and for onlookers it looked like perhaps the eagle had flown. However once balanced in the straight, jockey Jason Collett asked CHATTERLEY to begin the chase and she really attacked the line to charge home late and hit the front when it mattered most.

Jason commented post race that CHATTERLEY “had to do a bit of work from her barrier to get a position, but she kept finding the line and it was a solid effort”.

CHATTERLEY was a 2024 Inglis Easter yearling purchase from the draft of B2B Thoroughbreds. The filly was very well named by her ownership group as she is out of Forbidden and she was named after the D H Lawrence novel “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” which was originally banned in Australia.
