When all goes to plan on a race day, owners often find themselves notching up another win courtesy of good placement by the trainer, a fit horse and a top class ride. Wednesday’s metropolitan race meeting in Queensland was held at the Gold Coast and our lightly raced 4 year old gelding MANTELLI by Per Incanto (USA) won for the 3rd time in 12 starts.
The gelding has often up until now done a few things wrong in his races but yesterday under the expert guidance of rider Luke Dittman, MANTELLI mostly did everything right and over the 1,300 metres trip he always seemed likely to figure in the finish. He jumped well from the barrier, took up a good spot in the running and once the gelding challenged strongly in the straight it seemed that he would surge clear late and that’s exactly what happened.
MANTELLI won comfortably by a length with Luke very complimentary of his effort. The gelding has had a successful preparation to date in Queensland this time in training with 2 wins, a second and third from 6 starts in just over 2 months. He appears to be improving with experience and may well have more wins in store.
Congratulations to the winning MANTELLI owners Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, Lorenzo D’Addona, Peter Aukstinaitis, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Oliver Enriquez, David Carlson, Bruno Calabro, Robert Dutton, Julie Anson, John McCrimmon, Lauren Fitzsimons, J And T Racing (Manager: Jason Rose).
