GRESHAM went from last to first in the 1,800 metres event at the Gold Coast on Saturday after securing the perfect rails run the entire length of the straight. The son of Sebring jumped from the widest barrier in a field of 12 and as a result of being a little slowly away, he settled at the tail of the field. He travelled easily in this position for apprentice Nick Keal as the leaders set a genuine tempo up front. When the field sprinted from the 500 metres mark, all other runners peeled off the fence leaving a big space for GRESHAM to begin to improve right up against the rails all the way to the line. Nick Keal took the run and the gelding was full of running to win in good style, racing right up to his outstanding presentation in the mounting yard as noted pre-race by Sky Channel’s Bernadette Cooper.

The 5 year old gelding took his prize money earnings to just over $550,000 after Saturday’s victory with his CV now reading 6 career wins and 20 placings.
