Our 3 year old fillies by Microphone led home the 1,550 metres maiden event at Murwillumbah on Friday with PODCAST overtaking stablemate WIMOWEH in the closing stages. PODCAST jumped well from barrier two and settled comfortably towards the rear of the field for Michael Cahill, where she found a nice rhythm off a modest upfront speed. Approaching the turn for home, PODCAST was asked to build through her gears and she darted through the field, showing a good turn of foot to break her maiden in fine style, winning by just on a length.
Michael commented post race that he “rode her further back than anticipated but once she found the right run in the straight, she was sharp to the line”.
PODCAST was a 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale purchase from the draft of Eureka Stud. The filly is very appropriately named being by Darley’s now second season sire Microphone. She was the first foal of 4 time winner Zoom By who boasts a big pedigree page.
