The ever consistent FORTENSKY and his stablemate THE AVENGER ran the quinella in the 1,350 metres Open Handicap at Doomben on Saturday turning the tables on the last time they had met at Eagle Farm when THE AVENGER was first past the post. Each gelding is racing well and it was good to see that they are “sharing the spoils” this preparation. Jockey Matt McGillvray ensured that FORTENSKY worked to take the lead at about the 900 metres mark of the race and he controlled things from there forging clear at the 250 metres mark to win by over a length and a quarter with THE AVENGER closing nicely for second whilst not looking likely to overhaul the winner in the straight. FORTENSKY is a 6 year old son of Love Conquers All. He has now won 7 races with career earnings very close to $440,000 so he’s proving to be a great prize money earner for his connections. THE AVENGER is also a 6 year old gelding and coincidentally he has won 7 races with just over $400,000 in earnings to date so the son of Smart Missile is proving to be a very handy horse for his group of owners as well. Each is loving life at Chris’ Gold Coast stable and the results are testament to the great work by the team in Queensland who look after the horses so well.

Congratulations to the winning FORTENSKY owners Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, John Roe, Estate of the late Don Dong, Renato Cavuoto, Justin Graham, David Wilson, John Leggett, Vincent Ip, Bruno Calabro, Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Heather Wilson.
