In a time of such change, we are very fortunate that racing can continue in NSW, although without spectators. The owners of our 3 year old gelding FLINDERS were at home cheering from all corners of Australia as he won his maiden in good style yesterday at Warwick Farm.

FLINDERS jumped away nicely from his inside barrier draw and was able to take up a position just in behind the speed during the early stages of the mile event. The leaders ran along at a reasonable tempo and the gelding was always travelling comfortably in behind them for jockey James McDonald. Coming to the corner, James peeled FLINDERS to the outside and once he got clear running from the 450 metres mark in the straight, he accelerated quickly and then always looked the winner as he continued to let down in the heavy 8 conditions, winning nicely on the line. James commented post race (see below video) that he was very pleased with the gelding’s effort and for a horse who is still learning his craft, FLINDERS put them away impressively today.

FLINDERS is a 2018 Inglis Premier yearling sale graduate from the draft of Sledmere Stud, who yesterday also celebrated as vendors of the top priced yearling at the Inglis Easter online auction. FLINDERS is out of Elusive Quality (USA) mare Pentimento and is from the first crop of W. S. Cox Plate winner Adelaide (IRE).

Congratulations to the winning FLINDERS owners Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Dianne Handley, Margaret Roberts, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Craig Sidney, Bruno Calabro, Karl Goody, John McCrimmon, David Wilson, Heather Wilson.
