A determined effort by ACHIEVER at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday ensured that the gelding has now booked his trip north for the Group 1 Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm on 29th May.

ACHIEVER jumped well from the barriers and assumed the lead quickly in the 2,000 metres event, finding a lovely rhythm and going along at an even tempo. Jockey Tommy Berry began allowing the gelding to move through his gears rounding the turn for home, bringing the rest of the field under pressure in the process. He asked the 3 year old son of Pride Of Dubai to lengthen once they levelled up and when the second horse kept challenging all the way to line, ACHIEVER kept finding more to hold him at bay in a sterling effort.

The win on Saturday has now taken ACHIEVER‘s prize money earnings to more than $250,000. A good result for his $80,000 yearling purchase price from the Inglis Premier yearling sale. His pedigree suggests he will relish the 2,400 metres trip of the Derby – hailing from the famous Circles Of Gold family.

Congratulations to the winning ACHIEVER owners Brad Russell, Col Russell, Philip Ward, Katherine Ward, Todd Smith, Liam Campbell, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Bulliman Racing (Manager: Scott Bulliman), J And T Racing (Manager: Jason Rose), David Wilson, Heather Wilson, Darrell Eaves, Jeremy Gordon.
