Our purple and white stars saluted across two states yesterday with NOBLE CONQUEROR winning for the Flemington stable at Sale and BRASCO winning for the Gold Coast CWR team at Doomben.
NOBLE CONQUEROR began well and jockey Jordan Childs was able to place him just behind the speed where he travelled firmly on the bridle in a fluent rhythm throughout the early stages of the 1,400 metres event. The son of Churchill (IRE) continued to travel easily and balanced up comfortably around the turn before he was asked to lengthen into the straight; he picked up strongly and had the win easily covered 150 metres from the post. Jordan was very pleased with how NOBLE CONQUEROR finished off and believes that he will take good confidence from today’s result and has more wins to follow.
Next up was a masterful ride by Michael Rodd on Street Boss (USA) gelding BRASCO when winning over 1,350 metres at Doomben. The gelding missed the start badly and as a result, settled a long way back in the last pair on the fence, almost 10 lengths off the leaders…but Michael didn’t panic, biding his time on BRASCO until approaching the turn for home. The pair were able to get a dream run and although still 8 lengths from pole position, when asked to quicken BRASCO picked up and let down strongly for a soft win in the end.
