EDMONTON won first up this preparation at the Gold Coast over 1,400 metres and it was the stewards who decided the result yesterday when he raced on the polytrack at the Sunshine Coast over a mile. The 3 year old son of Vancouver won on protest for interference 50 metres from the post.
EDMONTON jumped well and held his ground from the good barrier draw (2), forcing the speed horses to cross him and settled in 4th position one off the fence with Luke Dittman aboard. The gelding travelled well throughout the run and Luke started building his momentum working into the turn. On straightening, he continued to extend and chase the leader who had kicked clear and a head to head battle ensued for the final 100 metres with a very tight margin on the line. Luke commented post race that EDMONTON was very tough and that he did everything right for his first experience on the polytrack. The gelding has now recorded 2 wins from just 5 starts and looks to be progressing nicely, with more success likely as the distances of his races increase.Congratulations to the winning EDMONTON owners Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Chris Olliver, Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, Martin Ive, Rachel Ive, Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Nick Vass Bloodstock (Manager: Nick Vass), Francis Kennedy, Barbara Kennedy.
