A winner on debut and then again first up this preparation 2 weeks ago, progressive 3 year old gelding MCHALE won at Wyong yesterday at the midweek metropolitan meeting and in doing so became a “one to watch” in coming months. Two wins from both starts this time in training have elevated the gelding to most likely now a feature race runner during the Randwick carnival and a race like the 1,600 metres Carbine Club Stakes could well be on the cards. Yesterday’s easy win in the 1,350 metres benchmark 78 was decisive and the patient ride by Tommy Berry, enabled MCHALE to show his customary late charge to the line. The son of Shooting To Win is well related as he is a half-brother to Group winners Ninth Legion and Tsaritsa. Now the winner of 3 of his 6 career starts, MCHALE appears to have very considerable “upside” going forward. The gelding was a yearling selection for Star and Randwick Bloodstock on behalf of Paramount Racing and races in the colours of the very popular RELIGIFY who remarkably won 13 races.
Congratulations to the winning MCHALE owners Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood) and Oliver Enriquez.
