BOLERO BELLE resumed in terrific fashion at Kembla Grange yesterday with a strong win over 1,300 metres on a good track. The 3 year old daughter of I Am Invincible jumped on terms from barrier 9 to settle in a midfield position where she raced comfortably through the early and mid-stages. As a result of a slow tempo up front, jockey Jeff Penza eased the filly out and commenced his run wide before coming to the bend. Once BOLERO BELLE balanced up in the straight, she gave a good kick and it was clear that the race was hers for the taking. She ran on strongly to win by just over a length with plenty in hand. It was an impressive maiden win from the filly at her third career start and it is a nice time of the year for her to now be finding form as a progressive type.

BOLERO BELLE was purchased from the draft of Kitchwin Hills at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale. Brett Howard commented at the time, “Thrilled to have secured this filly as she reminds me of some of Star’s high quality I Am Invincible race fillies eg Fiesta” – let’s hope she continues on an upward trajectory now! The filly’s name is derived from her pedigree – her granddam is Bolero Queen which in turn led to her dam being named Torvill. Ice skating royalty Jayne Torvill performed her Olympic medal winning routine to the legendary music “Bolero”
