BORN A KING (GB) ran a brave second last start at Flemington and the Chris Waller team made the right call in bringing the gelding up to Rosehill Gardens for a similar race over 2,000 metres on Saturday as he raced away for a strong win with Hugh Bowman aboard.
The son of champion Frankel (GB) jumped on terms from the barriers and was allowed to settle midfield where he travelled comfortably in the early stages of the race. Hugh then took BORN A KING (GB) through his gears once they rounded the turn for home and the gelding accelerated well upon straightening, forcing his way through a gap on the rail 200 metres from the line to pull away late for a decisive win.
Hugh commented post race that BORN A KING (GB) “appreciated the good ground and the strong pace”.
Congratulations to our Star owners involved in the ownership of BORN A KING (GB).
