Imported gelding BORN A KING (GB) was victorious on Saturday at Mornington when winning the Listed R.M. Ansett Classic over 2,400 metres. The son of superstar Frankel (GB) began well from an outside draw and was a touch keen before settling in the back half of the field through the early stages with Beau Mertens aboard. It was a nervous watch for connections in the straight as BORN A KING (GB) battled courageously up the straight to nab the win in a head bobbing finish. Post race Beau was thrilled by the gelding’s sheer toughness and effort over the long trip.

BORN A KING (GB) was a Chris Waller Racing acquisition from the 2020 Tattersalls Horses In Training sale and Saturday’s win was his 4th victory in Australia. Congratulations to all connections especially our Star owners involved in the ownership.
