Lightly raced 4 year old gelding BRASCO broke through for a comfortable win at Doomben yesterday second up this preparation. The son of Street Boss has taken some time to mature and if yesterday is anything to go by, he may now be learning just what racing is all about.
BRASCO began well and settled midfield in the 1,200 metres event where the speed was on up front. Jockey James Orman angled the gelding out as the widest runner at the top of the straight and he picked the field up pretty quickly to put them away and record a 1.5 lengths win. James was very pleased with BRASCO post race and commented that he will continue to improve now, especially as he steps up in distance in time.BRASCO was purchased from the draft of Queensland breeders KBL Thoroughbreds at the 2021 Inglis Easter yearling sale. Being by Street Boss (USA), he was named BRASCO after Donnie Brasco, the undercover FBI agent who infiltrated the Bonanno Crime Family in New York.
Congratulations to the winning BRASCO owners Martin Ive, Rachel Ive, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Trent Hibbs, Rebecca Hibbs, Michael Hibbs, Estate of the late Judith Hawkins, Stride Racing (Manager: Paul Burgess), Vincent Ip, David Basheer, CGO Racing.
