CANTARITO produced a great effort yesterday at an Ipswich metropolitan meeting when winning in dominant style over 1,700 metres. The daughter of Snitzel jumped well and jockey Taylor Marshall allowed the speed runners to take up the running whilst he positioned the mare onto the rails. CANTARITO settled into a lovely midfield position, around six lengths off a solid upfront tempo. She travelled strongly throughout and approaching the 600 metres, Taylor eased her off the fence and began to work into the race between runners. CANTARITO was challenging three wide turning for home and once balanced in the straight, she let down in great style to win comfortably by 2.12 lengths.
Taylor commented post race that “CANTARITO felt fantastic throughout the run and responded well in the straight” and he is of the opinion the mare is in for a good preparation following yesterday’s effortless win.
