CARNEROS has been racing consistently this preparation and the lightly raced 4 year old gelding recorded his second career win yesterday when racing over 1,680 metres at Ipswich. The son of Fastnet Rock jumped in front from the inside barrier and James didn’t give up his rail position making those wanting to lead work to cross him before settling CARNEROS in third spot. The gelding looked in trouble turning for home with no clear running in sight but fortunately at the 150 metres mark, CARNEROS and James were presented with an opportunity and the pair shouldered into the clear and pounced late with a driving ride to score in the last stride.
