It looked at one stage that it would be close to a Star quinella on Saturday at Newcastle when 3 year olds CATEGORIC and VERVE started to wind up on straightening in the 1,400 metres maiden. In the end it was the Zoustar gelding CATEGORIC who raced away to win by just under 2 lengths in an eye catching performance and a nicely judged ride by Kathy O’Hara. VERVE continued to find the line running 3rd at his second race start. Each looks capable of progressing as they continue to develop race skills. Kathy commented post race, “he’s a lovely big easy going horse, who quickened well off a good tempo.” A good result and an early Christmas present for the CATEGORIC team.

The 3 year old was a 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling purchase from the draft of Burnewang North Pastoral and is out of Stakes winning American mare Thekatcamehome (USA).

Congratulations to the winning CATEGORIC owners Titan (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Chris Olliver, Paul Van Buynder, J and T Racing (Manager: Jason Rose), David Micallef, Mervyn Wood, Jan Van Buynder, Ray Aurisch, Helen Aurisch, Scott Miller, Lilibeth Miller, Dianne Handley, Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Rick Porter, Julliann Porter.
