CROSSBOW was third up this preparation over 1,400 metres on the Kensington track at Royal Randwick on Wednesday. The 3 year old gelding had experienced some niggling feet issues early in the preparation which resulted in below par runs on his two previous outings. The stable team, together with the farrier and vet have worked diligently to rectify his hooves and CROSSBOW rewarded their efforts with a strong win at big odds ($44).

The son of Better Than Ready began well and settled in the back half of the field where he found a good rhythm and travelled comfortably for stable apprentice Siena Grima who was returning to race riding following a holiday freshen up. Once CROSSBOW pierced through a gap in the short Kensington straight, he picked up well and was strong through the line.

Siena commented post race that the gelding “jumped well and although he settled further back than ideal, he really let down well.” It was wonderful to watch CROSSBOW return to form and hopefully there are some nice races ahead for him.
