DESERT ICON (FR) returned to The Valley once again on Friday night and made it back to back wins with jockey Brett Prebble aboard over the famous 2,040 metres course. This time the 7 year old gelding stepped up to Stakes company and won the Group 3 JRA Cup in scintillating fashion by a comfortable 3.5 lengths.

Brett was positive from the barrier, encouraging DESERT ICON (FR) to go forward and the pair took up the running once they rounded the first turn, allowing them to then dictate the pace for the duration of the race. As they approached the 700 metres mark, Brett asked the gelding to pick up the tempo and DESERT ICON (FR) continued to roll through his gears and put a margin on the field upon straightening. He remained strong all the way through the line for a very comfortable win.
