DEMIANA and AMATI were set to race at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday but the heavy rainfall meant the decision to postpone the races was made midway through the program. Fortunately, the 1,200 metres Fillies and Mares event was added to yesterday’s card at Warwick Farm.
DEMIANA began on terms from her barrier and jockey Kerrin McEvoy allowed the 4 year old daughter of I Am Invincible to roll forward and take up a position just behind the leaders where she travelled in a good rhythm on the heavy 8 track. The mare was asked to quicken approaching the turn and made her run down the centre of the track, where she let down strongly for a tough victory. It was a determined win and of course, all the sweeter that the race carried Saturday’s prize money. AMATI also finished in eye catching fashion, relishing the wet track conditions to steam home from the rear of the field for 3rd in a “one to follow” performance when resuming.
Congratulations to the winning DEMIANA owners Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Ray Aurisch, P & S Glenney & S McKee Racing (Manager: Patti Glenney), Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Trevor MacLeod, Martin Ive, Rachel Ive, Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Raelene Glasgow, Martin Chong, Scott Maybury, CGO Racing.
