OLENTIA raced from the Gold Coast stable during her debut racing preparation and she won her first 2 starts before running 4th in the Magic Millons Rising Stars. Now based in Sydney, the 3 year old daughter of Zoustar resumed yesterday at Hawkesbury over 1,300 metres on a heavy 8 surface with James McDonald in the saddle. The filly jumped cleanly and settled well as she raced outside the leader during the early and middle stages. Approaching the turn for home, James asked OLENTIA to quicken and she responded nicely at a key stage. In the straight, she was impeded when the horse to her inside shifted out significantly, hampering her momentum but OLENTIA regathered well and made a late dive on the post. Although falling agonisingly short in the photo finish, she was able to claim the race on protest as a result of the incident in the straight.OLENTIA looks a smart filly with a bright future and James was very complimentary of her efforts post race, commenting that the wet track wasn’t her preferred surface yesterday but she still accelerated gamely.
