In an historic day for the Australian thoroughbred breeding industry, the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare sale on the Gold Coast yesterday produced one highlight after another. Records seemed to be broken every 15 minutes with 18 mares fetching $1 million or more in the opening session.

For Star, it was the time to say a fond farewell to our classy mare FIESTA. The winner of 5 races including 4 at Stakes level, FIESTA earned almost $1.6 million on the racetrack. She was actively sought yesterday and fetched $1.35 million to the bid of Rosemont Stud in Victoria. FIESTA was the winner of the ATC Princess Series for 3 Year Old Fillies and that award included a nomination to the Darley stallion of their choice so it will be interesting to see where her new owners decide to go. Thanks for some great memories FIESTA.

Our next highest priced sale yesterday was for VOILA. The daughter of Choisir had performed very admirably on the racetrack earning close to $300,000 and winning at metropolitan level in three states. VOILA was sold for $190,000 to Andrew Williams Bloodstock. With our mares SELESJOLIETTE (NZ) SWEET GOLD (GER) and LIARA all finding good homes, it was a busy day with our Star mares fetching over $1.8 million overall. Our thanks to Rachael and Brett Howard from Glenesk Thoroughbreds for preparing 5 of our mares in such great order.

Congratulations to all the Magic Millions team for such a memorable day.
