A seventh career win by KALINO from 22 starts and a first at Stakes level saw the 5 year old gelding by Pierro take his career earnings to just over $650,000. It was perfect placement by Chris and a 10 out of 10 ride by jockey Jye McNeil. KALINO settled at the rear of the field and once they had raced well into the long Flemington straight, Jye peeled the gelding to the outside and the pair sprinted well to win the Listed 1,400 metres The Sofitel in good style with a smart last 600 metres in 34.06 seconds; the third fastest on the 10 race program including 7 at Stakes level. It was a good performance from a talented and genuine gelding who looks set to race consistently well in Melbourne during the Spring.

Congratulations to the winning KALINO owners William Lovatt, Christine Lovatt, Emil Paya, Dennis McCann, Rebecca Grasso, Lion Racing Limited (Manager: Manoj Tahal), Ben Trim, Dean Mangold, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Boeara Holdings (Manager: Denise Dunphy), Mark Rapaport, Brad Russell.
