His third start this preparation and stepping up to 2,100 metres was the winning receipe for MANNERHEIM yesterday. The 4 year old son of Dundeel (NZ) jumped well from the inside barrier and jockey Tommy Berry settled the gelding midfield where he travelled comfortably in the early stages. Tommy elected to peel the gelding off the rail position approaching the hometurn and once in the straight MANNERHEIM displayed his staying ability with a confident win by 1.75 lengths.

It was a well deserved victory for the lightly raced gelding and yesterday marked his third career success. Tommy commented post race that MANNERHEIM “relished the true staying conditions set out in the race and that he put away the field with good intent”.

Congratulations to the winning MANNERHEIM owners CGO Racing, Peter Aukstinaitis, Martin Ive, Rachel Ive, Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Ray Aurisch, Kevin Paul Rochford, Felgate Holdings (Manager: Paul Felgate), Astrid Woods, Trent Hibbs, Michael Hibbs, Martin Chong.
