The “Reece Jones show” at Royal Randwick on Saturday produced four winners for the very much in form 3kg claiming apprentice and the final win of his quartet was NEW ARRANGEMENT (GB) having his first run back since February following a short spell. The 1,300 metres Benchmark 94 looked a suitable race for the gelding with the application of blinkers (plus the claim for the jockey) however it was the manner in which he sprinted in the straight which surprised some of his connections. He had settled at the rear of the field of ten and when Reece asked NEW ARRANGEMENT (GB) to go around the field at about the 600 metres mark, the pair did so quite quickly to the point where the gelding looked likely to be right in the finish, provided his condition didn’t give out in the latter stages of the race. It didn’t and he fought strongly right to the line to win by a very narrow margin with over a length and a half to the third horse.

It was a determined first up performance by NEW ARRANGEMENT (GB) who raced consistently last preparation and who now seems one to follow and hopefully to continue his good form through the winter racing of the next few months.

Congratulations to the winning NEW ARRANGEMENT (GB) connections including our Star owners Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Nick Vass Bloodstock (Manager: Nick Vass), Craig Brakey, Angela Brakey, McLeish Family Racing (Manager: David McLeish), Rachel Ive.
