NOBLE CONQUEROR turned 7 on Saturday and he marked the occasion with his 7th career win. First up over 1,350 metres at Doomben, the gelding settled at the rear of the field, travelling about 6 lengths off the leaders up until the turn for home for jockey Ben Thompson. Upon straightening, NOBLE CONQUEROR found plenty of galloping room in the centre of the track and let down enormously to storm home over the top of the field and win on the line. It was an exhilarating watch for onlookers and went against the race pattern of the day.
Ben was over the moon with the gelding’s performance off the back of a nice quiet trial on Tuesday and commented that NOBLE CONQUEROR was “the only horse to really defy the pattern and run on down the middle of the track to score.” The gelding has been effective across his career first up with 3 wins and his earnings are now nearing half a million dollars.
