As one commentator said of OLENTIA on Saturday “she went out for a spell a Group 3 winner and she’s returned a star on the rise”. The daughter of top class stallion Zoustar, OLENTIA looks destined for big things if the manner in which the 4 year old mare won the 1,200 metres Benchmark 88 Handicap at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday is any barometer. Chris had explained to James McDonald in their pre-race discussion that if he could position OLENTIA “no more than about 3 lengths off them at the turn…..she should be right”; and she was – having sat 3 wide the trip then going widest of all at the home turn. Once balanced in the straight the mare accelerated well to forge to the lead at the 200 metres mark winning by over 2 lengths and recording a sharp time of 33.99 seconds for the last 600 metres of the race. Now having won 5 of her 6 career starts to date, OLENTIA looks set to make her mark in some of the feature races through the Spring and Autumn Carnivals over the next 9 months.

Purchased at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale from Tyreel Stud (from whom we also bought our talented sprinter Kalino), OLENTIA will next race most likely in about 3 weeks in one of 2-3 options for her at that time.
