Moving up north to Doomben yesterday and the perennial “bridesmaid” SKYWRITER finally did what we had thought she could do well before now…win her maiden in an impressive manner. The 1,350 metres maiden victory with Ryan Maloney aboard was an easy watch in the end as the mare improved from back of the field on the rail for most of the running, to appearing in the middle of the track halfway down the home straight and then shooting clear to win easily. She finally disposed of her 4 second placings with a couple of them by the narrowest of margins. Ryan reported post race that the mare “travelled great and showed a very good turn of foot”. The Written Tycoon 4 year old has taken time to mature, but she looks well on her way now and on yesterday’s performance clearly appears capable of building a decent record as her race career progresses.
SKYWRITER was a 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale purchase from the draft of Yulong Stud. The first foal of Street Sense (USA) mare SKY PRINCESS, a 6 times race winner, this filly caught our eyes as “a lovely scopey sprinting type”.Congratulations to the winning SKYWRITER owners Paramount Racing (Manager: Kathryn Wood), Peter Aukstinaitis, Adoreme Racing (Manager: Scott Garbett), Mark Priadko, John Widdows, Vincent Ip, Bruno Calabro, John McCrimmon, David Cooper, Lorraine Podgornik, D & K O’Brien Racing (Manager: David O’Brien), Ron Bell, Tanya Dolan, Scott Maybury, Robert Castle, Joan Evatt
