Imported stayer HUMBOLT CURRENT (GB) continued his very good form since arriving in Queensland with another strong performance on Saturday at Doomben. With Michael Cahill in the saddle, the gelding settled towards the rear of the field in the 2,030 metres Open Handicap and they remained in that position until just after the 700 metres mark. At that point Michael began to improve on “Humbolt” going wide around the field and joining the leading group shortly after straightening. As is his racing pattern, the gelding ran on solidly in the straight and was too strong for his rivals over the distance.

HUMBOLT CURRENT (GB) has won 3 of his 4 starts in Queensland (2nd at his only other start in Brisbane) and his prize money bank is steadily climbing, now having reached in excess of $335,000 with 7 wins on the board.
