The benefit of Chris having a very successful Gold Coast stable was highlighted again on Saturday, when two of our well travelled metropolitan winning horses featured in the finish of the open 1,400 metres handicap at Eagle Farm. In a driving finish THE AVENGER and jockey Michael Cahill “got there” on the line, with travelling companion FORTENSKY third. Both geldings had raced well in Sydney earlier in August with THE AVENGER winning at Rosehill Gardens over 1,500 metres therefore now having won 2 of his last 3 starts, whilst FORTENSKY ran 2nd in Sydney on three successive Saturdays. Each gelding is now heading to the $400k mark in prize money earnings with the likelihood of more to come; a satisfactory result for most owners. With the spring racing carnival in Sydney now upon us, both THE AVENGER (with 7 wins to date) and FORTENSKY (6 wins to date) will have several more starts in Brisbane however there is every probability that there will be more races in Sydney for both geldings in the months to come.
